Have you ever dreamed of sitting trackside at the Daytona 500? The Road King Club Ultimate Race Sweepstakes, open May 1 – June 30, has a grand prize to savor. One member will be named the Road King Cup Series Champion and receive: a trip for two to the Sprint Cup Daytona 500, including round-trip airfare; four day/three night hotel accommodations; VIP passes to the race; a $500 gift card and more — all adding up to a $7,000 plus value.

Every time you swipe your Road King Club card for fuel, shop repairs or restaurant purchases, you will be entered into the sweepstakes. Chrome Club Elite members get three entries per swipe. Chrome Club members get two, and standard members are entered once per swipe. (Open to all Road King Club members. No purchase necessary per mail-in entry.)

Ten winners will receive a 20-lap Driving Experience at a racetrack, along with a $250 gift card. Twenty-five winners will receive a stylish racing jacket and hat.

Stop in to TA every day and check the Road King Club kiosk. Each day, one Road King Club member’s name will be drawn to win up to 50,000 points. But in order to win, they must check the kiosk and accept the prize within the 24-hour window of opportunity. Names change at midnight.

Chip Ferguson has been driving trucks for 37 years, and stopping at TAs all over the country about that long. “If you could look at where I fuel, you’d see that I’m at a TA 98 percent of the time,” the Summerfield, Fla., resident says. “I’ve been a TA guy since before they had Road King Club cards and points.”

As loyal as Ferguson is to TA, he’s just as diligent about swiping his Road King Club card, doing it without thinking much about it. So he was stunned to get a call telling him that he won a Dodge Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel, just by using his card when he purchased a Mobil Delvac Ultimate PM. “It didn’t sink into my head that I was entering a contest,” he says. “When I got the call telling me I won, I thought it was a prank.” Ron Dunlap, shop programs manager, says the contest is “just another way that TA rewards its customers.”

Ferguson, an owner-operator leased to Landstar, works closely with his wife of 19 years, Kathy. “I couldn’t do this without her,” he says. Kathy takes care of the dispatch and paperwork from home and Chip does the driving, which he still loves after all these years. “The first time I ever sat in the seat and went out on the road with a fellow driver, he looked at me and said, ‘You’re a natural, son.’ I can’t really explain what it is about driving — it’s just part of me,” Ferguson says.

As for their new truck, Chip expects that he’ll be behind the wheel on that vehicle, too. “After I found out that it wasn’t a prank call and I really had won the Dodge Ram, I showed Kathy the truck that we’re getting. When she saw it, she said she didn’t think she would be driving anything that big.”
