Pork Chops Rule at Truckers Jamboree
Two dozen volunteers will serve more than 15,000 meals at the 31st annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree. The centerpiece of the menu is the famous pork chop.
According to Iowa 80′s Bill Peel, serving that many meals is a smooth operation. “The size of the event requires that we have sophisticated equipment and experienced people preparing and serving the food,” he explains. “When the Jamboree started, it was a few of us cooking 400-500 meals during the event. Today, we’ll serve 110 meals in 10 minutes at our peak times.
The grillmaster at the Jamboree is Matt Whiteford, who’s Whiteford Gourmet Foods supplies the famous pork chops.
