Reasons to Smile

A detailed process for determining delight

You know what to do if you’re happy and you know it. But what if you don’t actually realize you’re happy? The website www.happier.com recently created a gratitude journal application for the iPhone. The idea is to input three positive events that happened that day, then answer 24 questions for a happiness score.

The app even has an introduction by professor and happiness expert Dr. Martin Seligman. “When things go well, we tend to forget them. When things go badly, we remember them,” he says. “The more you pay attention to things going well by writing them down, the more positive emotions you’ll experience.”
