The State of our Highways

Drive North Dakota. Avoid New Jersey if you can. That’s the simplest interpretation of the results from a recent study that measured the road conditions of all 50 states. The Reason Foundation’s 17th Annual Report on the Performance of State Highway Systems gave North Dakota top marks for its overall rankings in 12 categories including traffic fatalities, congestion, pavement condition, bridge condition and highway maintenance costs.
